Simu Liu’s first EP (extended play), titled “ANXIOUS-AVOIDANT,” has officially dropped on music streaming platforms, the actor/singer announced on Instagram on Saturday.
Promoting the project: In his Instagram post, Liu, 34, explained that the EP, which contains tracks, “Don’t,” “If It’s Time,” “Break My Heart” and “Warm,” will focus on different aspects of life, such as “from love and sex to heartbreak and depression.”
He added that the songs in the EP all speak to his “personal experiences navigating through life.”
Releasing the singles: Liu first released “Don’t” on April 7 and its music video on July 25. “If It’s Time” was released on Oct. 27.
Besides the tracks in his EP, Liu also sang “Hot Soup,” the soundtrack for “Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings.” Many fans consider the single his debut track.
Breakup song: The “Barbie” star revealed in the Instagram post that he worked with singer Joe Jonas, 34, in co-writing the breakup ballad “Break My Heart.”
The track’s lyrics appear to fit what Liu may have gone through in September 2022 when he announced that he had broken up with his ex-girlfriend, Allison Bender. He has previously revealed he is now dating Allison Hsu, a digital marketing manager.
Meanwhile, Jonas is currently going through a breakup, as he reportedly filed for divorce from his wife of four years, Sophie Turner, 27, in September.
Other collaborators: Besides Jonas, Liu also worked with Jimmy Rainsford, Nathan Cunningham, Ryan Hennessy and Marc Sibley on the tracks.
“ANXIOUS-AVOIDANT” is now available on Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music and Deezer.
