“Squid Game” lead Lee Jung-jae has requested $1 million per episode for Season 2 of the Netflix hit dystopian series, South Korean tabloid Dispatch revealed.
The report: If Lee’s alleged request is met, the 50-year-old actor would earn a staggering $13 million in total for the 13 episodes of Season 2.
Lee was previously paid $248,000 per episode for Season 1, totaling his salary to $2.2 million.
According to Dispatch’s report, Netflix allegedly cannot ignore Lee’s hefty salary request due to his significance to the hit series, which collected over $900 million in series-related revenue and became Netflix’s most-watched series of all time.
The actor nor Netflix has confirmed the requested paycheck.
Rumors about casting: Besides the talk surrounding Lee’s salary, the actor is also being questioned for his alleged involvement in the casting of his close friend and former Big Bang member T.O.P. in Season 2.
However, Lee’s agency Artist Company denied the rumors. In a statement to Soompi, the agency said:

We would like to express our position regarding the reports about actor Lee Jung Jae’s involvement in the casting of “Squid Game 2.” Some of the reports that claim actor Lee Jung Jae was involved in the casting of “Squid Game 2” are not true. The casting of a project is the authority of the director and the production company. In particular, actor Lee Jung Jae understands more than anyone that due to the great interest in “Squid Game 2,” many actors work hard to make an appearance, and [the cast members] are decided through audition.

T.O.P, who was previously charged with smoking marijuana, has not confirmed if he auditioned for the role. The 35-year-old’s last acting role was reportedly in 2016.
Squid Game” Season 2 is set to commence filming later this year. Its official release date has yet to be announced.
