VinFast, Vietnam’s leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, unveiled its electric pickup truck concept at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
Unveiling the pickup: The new electric vehicle concept, the VF Wild, marks VinFast‘s first venture into the pickup truck segment, showcasing the company’s dedication to expanding its product range and promoting sustainable mobility. According to a press release, the VF Wild, which was jointly created by VinFast and Australian design studio GoMotiv, is designed to cater to the preferences of a “new generation of consumers looking for innovation and eco-friendliness without compromising on performance and durability.”
“We are very proud to introduce the VF Wild concept, which encapsulates our mission to make sustainable, high-quality electric vehicles accessible to a broader market,” Tran Mai Hoa, VinFast Global’s deputy CEO of sales and marketing, stated. “This is not just a new product in our offering – it showcases our aspiration to venture into the fast-paced and thriving electric pickup truck market.”
VF Wild features: The mid-sized electric pickup is slightly shorter than models like the Toyota Tacoma or Ford Ranger, with an overall length of 209 inches and a width of 79 inches. It features a unique folding back wall in the passenger compartment, allowing for an extended cargo bed.  This innovative design allows the bed length to expand from five to eight feet automatically when the rear seats are folded down. The design also incorporates a panoramic glass roof and digital side mirrors for improved aerodynamics.
Expanding mini-eSUV globally: On Tuesday, the company also announced that its four-seater mini-eSUV, the VF 3, initially intended for the Vietnamese market, will now be available for sale globally. While the company did not specify a delivery timeframe and pricing, it mentioned plans to start accepting reservations within the year.
About VinFast: Founded in 2017, VinFast, a member of Vingroup, owns an automotive manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam. The company commenced car deliveries in California in March last year and had sold approximately 21,200 units by the third quarter, with over half of them going to its affiliate. The management anticipates the company to achieve a break-even point by 2025. VinFast also recently launched a factory in North Carolina to supply EVs for the American market.
