Universal Studios Japan is Opening a Super Nintendo World in 2021

Universal Studios Japan will open its highly-anticipated Nintendo theme park area early next year, bringing notable characters headed by Mario to life.
The area, officially “Super Nintendo World,” was initially scheduled for a July 2020 launch before being pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Verge reported.
In a tweet posted Thursday, the theme park announced the area’s opening for spring 2021. This puts it ahead of the Tokyo Summer Olympics, which supposedly coincided with the area’s initial launch schedule.
With a few months to pass, guests may want to visit the separate Mario Cafe & Store, which will open in the park’s Hollywood area on Oct. 16.
The spot will come with exclusive food, drinks and merchandise, including Mario and Luigi-themed pancake sandwiches, cream sodas, smartphone cases, key chains, pouches and more.
Universal Studios Japan began construction of Super Nintendo World in June 2017.
The area will feature Mario Kart and Yoshi-themed rides, attractions, restaurants, shops and other uniquely-Nintendo experiences.
For one, guests will feel like stepping into a Mario game by donning a wristband called “Power Up Band.” The wearable will let users jump to hit blocks and collect coins and items, just like how Mario does.
Universal Studios and Nintendo also plan to open a similar area at the parks in Hollywood, Orlando and Singapore.
