To celebrate the success of the Harry Potter IP in the Japanese market, an official Harry Potter cafe is opening in Tokyo featuring wizard-themed food menus and souvenirs.
Located on the first floor of the Akasaka Biz Tower, the cafe will be holding its soft opening from June 17 to July 7. The cafe’s website recommends that patrons arrive with advanced reservations to obtain priority entry.
The Harry Potter cafe, featuring a Hogwarts-inspired exterior and interior design, will offer themed food and drink menus and souvenirs. Individuals will be limited to three of each souvenir item, including glass mugs priced at 2,000 yen (approximately $15), spoons for 600 yen (approximately $4.50) and placemats for 1,450 yen (approximately $10.50).
On the cafe’s menu, guests will have the option to choose food items from a Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw house theme. One item featured on the menu is a 1,600 yen (approximately $11.85) “Hogwarts Cheese Toasty,” where the sandwich’s ingredients vary by the chosen Harry Potter house. The Gryffindor sandwiches are made with beef and onion while the Slytherin option includes salmon and spinach.
