Thai Man Who Lives in a Cave Becomes a Celebrity For Dating Western Women
By Ryan General
A minor internet personality in Thailand known for living in a cave on Koh Phangan suddenly blew up in popularity after sharing the story on how he managed to invite a Russian woman back to his humble abode.
Jatuphum Losiri, who is more popularly known as “The Cave Man 2018” online, posted his recent story on Facebook and has since gone viral.
In describing his encounter with the foreign beauty, the 48-year-old man surely sounded as him trying to be romantic, but others may find some details as creepy. According to Jatuphum, he saw a “slim, beautiful woman” just outside a 7-Eleven and decided to strike up a conversation.
“I said to her, ‘You interrupted me. I was riding my motorbike home, but because of your beauty, I had to turn around. I needed to talk to you and find out if you’re beautiful on the inside as well,” according to the post as translated from Thai by Coconuts Media.
“She laughed, and after talking to her a bit more, I found out that she was from Russia and this was her last day on Koh Phangan. So I told her: ‘Then this is your last chance to get to know me. We have to find a beautiful place to sit and talk.”
“She hesitated because I was just a stranger in her eyes. She said, ‘I’m not sure. You might be dangerous.’ I smiled and replied, ‘That’s true. I know how you feel. You’re in another country, far from your home and a strange man is inviting you to go with him. Not to worry, I’m not dangerous. And the place I’m taking you to is not remote. If you feel uneasy, you can shout out for help.”
“When she heard that, she said yes and hopped onto the back of my bike.”

While his lines may sound cringe-worthy to many, his post has earned him praises from Thai men who were impressed with his courage and communication skills.
Then, just hours later, the caveman posted another photo but this time with a different woman who is shown sleeping in his bed.
“No matter how tired I was last night, I still woke up at 6 a.m. Then I’ll make coffee and mediate. But someone is still sleeping,” he captioned the photo which shocked many of the netizens who just learned about him through his earlier viral post.
And while the new image sparked criticism from people who thought he took and posted the image without permission from the woman, those who knew him well were not really that surprised.
As it turned out, Jatuphum’s social media posts have mostly been about the many Western women who he has invited to his cave, long before his post with the Russian woman went viral.
Those who have been following the Cave Man’s Facebook account are already familiar with his posts which mostly showcase his minimalistic lifestyle in the cave situated on the Full Moon Party island.
The cave is reportedly on private land but since no one has forbidden Jatuphum from taking residence there, he has been staying there since he found it about 8 months ago.
In response to some of the backlash he received, Jatuphum explained to local reporters that he’s just being romantic and didn’t intend any harm to anyone.
“I deleted the picture [of the woman in his bed]. I don’t want this woman who has been with me to feel bad when she finds out about it. Even though, you can’t tell who it is based on the photo,” he was quoted in an interview with Amarin TV.
“I just posted it for fun. I didn’t think there’d be a backlash, but I know that there will be people who agree and disagree, no matter what I do.”

Jatuphum went on to explain that the woman in his bed is just “one of his lovers” and not the Russian woman he wrote about in the viral post. He would later write in another post that after he asked the Russian woman for permission to kiss her and said no, lamenting that she was “the one who got away.”
According to the cave-dwelling Casanova. he hasn’t dated any Thai women recently and now he just mostly dates Western women. He further claimed that he never lures women into his cave or forces himself on them.
“If you find my posts disturbing, then you should not follow me. I didn’t force anyone to follow this page. Only the people who share the same dream and lifestyle as me would have fun here [on this platform],” he wrote in a recent post.
