Lucasfilm and Disney+ has unveiled the first trailer for “Star Wars: Ahsoka,” starring Rosario Dawson.
Presented at London’s Star Wars Celebration on Friday amidst a bevy of Star Wars news, the series will follow the journey of exiled Jedi Ahsoka Tano, played by Dawson.
Voiced by Ashley Eckstein, Ahsoka was introduced in the 2008 animated TV series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” as the Padawan to Anakin Skywalker, quickly becoming a fan favorite. Ahsoka was also featured in the animated series “Star Wars Rebels” before Dawson portrayed the character for her live-action debut in “The Mandalorian” in 2020.
The trailer shows off several “Star Wars Rebels” characters making their live-action debut.
Natasha Liu Bordizzo will portray Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren. Ecuadorian and Iranian actor Eman Esfandi will star as “Rebels” protagonist and Jedi Padawan Ezra Bridger. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who made a surprise appearance at the celebration, revealed she will be playing Hera Syndulla.
“Rebels” antagonist Grand Admiral Thrawn makes a brief appearance in the trailer, but it is unknown who will be playing him. Ray Stevenson from “Vikings” and Ivanna Sakhno from “Pacific Rim: Uprising” will also star in the show. Actor and martial artist Diana Lee Inosanto will reprise her as Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth, who Ashoka squared off against in “The Mandalorian.”
Dawson shared that the show was shot on The Volume, an LED immersive soundstage that was also used for “The Mandalorian.”

We are completely immersed almost all the time. The level of detail is remarkable. Even the last day, the light sabers turn on and we’re in the world. It’s only been three weeks since my heart stopped racing. I wake up every morning thinking I need to be doing something.

“Star Wars Ahsoka” will arrive on Disney+ in August. Check out the trailer below:
