Walmart is Now Selling a Sriracha Gift Basket for $15
By Carl Samson
Those whose meals are practically incomplete without the kick of Huy Fong Foods’ Sriracha sauce will be thrilled to learn that Walmart is selling a Sriracha gift set beginning next month.
The Sriracha Ramen Noodle Gift Set includes a bottle of the iconic rooster sauce, a few packages of instant ramen, an oversized mug with the condiment’s logo, a ceramic spoon with the image of a rooster and a pair of green chopsticks held together by a rooster plug.
Developed by David Tran, a Vietnamese refugee who arrived in the U.S. in 1979, Sriracha (pronounced as see-ra-cha) is primarily made of red chilis, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar and salt.
After a series of recipe tests and market research, Tran launched the condiment in 1980 and gradually amassed a worldwide following.
Earlier this year, grocery delivery service Instacart ranked America’s most popular hot sauces in honor of National Hot Sauce Day — and Huy Fong’s Sriracha made it to number 3, Food & Wine reported.
The sauce comes in at 1,000 to 2,500 Scoville heat units (SHU) on the Scoville scale, which measures the comparative heat of different chili peppers, according to the American Chemical Society In comparison, Tabasco comes in at 2,500 to 5,000 SHU.
The Sriracha Ramen Noodle Gift Set, which comes under $15, will be available at Walmart starting Nov. 1, Bustle noted.
