Simu Liu praises ‘RRR,’ says ‘I want to be in a Bollywood movie’
“Barbie” actor Simu Liu wants to be in a Bollywood film.
“RRR” praise: Speaking with Indian publication Pinkvilla, the “Shang-Chi” star praised the Academy award-winning film “RRR,” saying, “RRR this year was so phenomenal. It was absolutely incredible. And, it blew me away.”
“Barbie” comparison: Liu also compared Bollywood to his most recent film, the upcoming “Barbie.”
There’s, you know, just the focus on musicality. There’s such music, songs like singing and dancing, like, you know, the actors are, are performing and they’re singing and there have to be such triple threats and yeah, I feel like, um, you know, I feel like it’s such a natural thing for an actor to look at Bollywood and to want to, you know, want to kind of participate and want to be a part of it in some way.
The actor has been transparent about the training he went through to prepare for the role of Ken in the upcoming film, posting behind-the-scenes videos of the process on his social media.
Bollywood dreams: Continuing, Liu expressed a desire to star in a Bollywood film, particularly one with a dance number:
“So, yeah, I’m putting it out there. I want to be in a Bollywood movie,” Liu was quoted saying. “I wanna be part of a Bollywood dance number. Um, So I really wanna make it happen.”
“Barbie,” directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, will release in theaters on July 21.
