Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani made history on Friday by recording his 100th hit of the season, effectively securing his third consecutive season of at least 100 hits and 100 pitching strikeouts.
What happened: The 29-year-old Japanese-born athlete, who was also recently named a two-way MLB All-Star for the third year in a row, unlocked the new achievement during his team’s Friday game loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.
In a tweet on Saturday, ESPN Stats & Info noted that Ohtani is now in his third consecutive season of 100 hits and 100 pitching strikeouts.
