United States Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel presented Shohei Ohtani with a replica visa for his dog Decoy during his visit to the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo this week.
Set for travel: Emanuel shared photos he snapped with Ohtani on Thursday, one of which shows him holding the supersized, pretend visa for the MLB superstar’s dog Decoy, whose Japanese name is Dekopin. Details show his passport number as 000MVPUP000, while his control number is 000GOODBOY000.
The internet fell in love with Decoy when he sat beside Ohtani during the latter’s MVP award interview in November. He became the subject of much speculation as Ohtani kept his name a secret, with some even linking him to the baseball champ’s future team ahead of his historic $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Why Ohtani is in Japan: It is unclear why the Dodgers’ new designated hitter was in Japan. According to a local report, he was back in his home country for four days and had kept his schedule private. He returned to the U.S. on Thursday.

What people are saying: Japanese X users found Decoy and his sham visa adorable. One fan thanked Emmanuel for issuing it.
Another wrote that they “envy [Emmanuel] for being able to meet Shohei-kun so many times.”
“I hope to meet Dekopin next time,” another commented.
