One of the three suspects who viciously attacked two elderly leaders of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association has been arrested in San Francisco.
Police arrested Dashawn Pierson in connection to the crime committed on crowded Stockton and Pacific Avenue in San Francisco’s Chinatown, according to ABC7 News.
Pierson was arrested at his home in Oakland on Monday.
Chang Hwang and his friend were viciously attacked in broad daylight on July 15. The three suspects were reportedly captured on surveillance camera moments before the attack happened.
Security cameras also captured the second victim being punched and knocked to the ground while attempting to rescue his friend.
A witness also captured pictures on his cellphone showing one of the victims lying unconscious on the ground, while the other can be seen sitting on the roadside waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed visited Chinatown weeks after the attack in an attempt to assure residents that City Hall is doing its best to protect the people.
Residents of the area discussed the raising concerns of violent street crimes during a meeting held by the Chinese Benevolent Association in the wake of the assault.
More than 200 members attended the meeting, including San Francisco Police Department Captain Robert Yick, San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin, and others.
Two other suspects remain at large with a stolen Rolex watch that belonged to one of the elderly leaders.
