Sandra Oh revealed in a recent interview that she is interested in reprising her role as Geraldine Gupta in the latest installment in “The Princess Diaries” film franchise.
What she said: Speaking to EW earlier this month, the 51-year-old “Killing Eve” star shared that she wants to see how her character ended up, saying, “I am ready for the queen. Call me! I’m dying to see how Gupta has moved up in the world.”
About her role: Oh played Gupta, the vice principal of Albert Einstein High School where Anne Hathaway’s character Mia Thermopolis attends, in the first “The Princess Diaries” film, which premiered in 2001.
In one of her most-cited scenes in the film, Oh’s character receives a phone call informing her that Thermopolis’ grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi (played by Julie Andrews), is on her way to Thermopolis’ school.
“Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. The queen is coming,” Gupta says.
About “The Princess Diaries 3”: The upcoming film, which is the third installment in “The Princess Diaries” film franchise, is currently in the works, reported The Hollywood Reporter in November 2022.
Aadrita Mukerji (“Reacher,” “Quantum Leap”) is writing the film’s script, while franchise veteran Debra Martin Chase will produce once more. The film will be a continuation — not a reboot — of the popular film series.
It is still unknown whether Hathaway and Andrew will reprise their roles.
