Red Velvet’s Irene and Seulgi denied entry at Beyoncé concert in Europe
K-pop artists Irene and Seulgi from K-pop girl group Red Velvet were denied entry to a Beyoncé concert, drawing the ire of fans.
What happened: Red Velvet had been on the European leg of their “R to V” tour, with their arrival in London coinciding with Beyoncé’s show at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium on June 4. Seulgi, a long-time fan of Beyoncé, shared on DearU Bubble that she had managed to secure tickets for the concert.
Ticketing troubles: Irene and Seulgi, along with one of their staff members, made it to the venue, but fans spotted them appearing to deal with ticket-related issues at the entry gate.
Seulgi later revealed on Bubble that although they had successfully scanned their tickets, they encountered complications with the staff member accompanying them. They went to the ticket office to try and help the staff member, but when they attempted to re-enter the venue, security denied them access as their tickets had already been scanned.
Fan support: Netizens took to social media to express their disappointment and empathy towards Irene and Seulgi’s experience. Some fans even attempted to contact known staff members working closely with Beyoncé to secure tickets for other shows, going as far as to encourage others to leave comments on her publicist’s Instagram posts.
A tour of their own: Red Velvet’s “R to V” tour kicked off in Seoul on April 1 and has taken them to various cities, such as Singapore, Manila, Bangkok, Jakarta, Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam. Their most recent album, “The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday,” was released in November last year.
