Former House speaker cites VP Kamala Harris’ ‘really weird’ laugh as reason she can’t be president

Republican politician Newt Gingrich said Vice President Kamala Harris has no shot at the presidency in 2024 because of her “really weird laugh.”
The former Republican presidential candidate and House speaker appeared on “Fox & Friends” Monday morning to promote his newest book “Defeating Big Government Socialism: Saving America’s Future,” which was released on June 12.
Gingrich, a frequent guest on the show, shared his thoughts on which Democratic candidate was most likely to run and win in the upcoming election cycle.
Referring to The Washington Post’s article on Democrats’ top candidates for the 2024 presidential election, he claimed, “Harris has one enormous challenge. Her laugh is really weird. I know that sounds petty, but, as human beings go, you watch her for a while, you just think she can’t possibly be president.”
“We have a president who is cognitively challenged, but to have a president who’s just strange, I think would be a whole lot to follow,” the author added.
Gingrich concluded by predicting that new candidates would emerge, with his “personal favorite” being actor Tom Cruise.
“If Trump can come out of real estate to be president, why can’t Cruise come out of ‘Top Gun,’” he asked the host, who responded with laughter.
The Washington Post ranked President Joe Biden as the leading contender for the presidency in 2024 despite his historically low approval ratings — which stand at a mere 38.6 percent, according to FiveThirtyEight’s average of polls. The figure makes Biden the most unpopular president since former President Harry S. Truman, who ran for just one term.
Harris was given even less credit by the Post, being described as “one of the most unpopular modern vice presidents at this point.” According to a Los Angeles Times average of polls from late last month, Harris’ approval ratings are nearly identical to Biden’s with only 41 percent of Americans favoring her.
Secretary of Transportation and former presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg was ranked second above Harris, who placed third on the list.
Gingrich blamed Buttigieg for all of the flight delays, citing them as proof that the young former mayor was unsuitable to run the country.
