Netflix cooks up first trailer for Thai culinary thriller ‘Hunger’

Netflix has released the official trailer for its original Thai-language dramatic thriller, “Hunger.”
“Hunger” stars Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying, also known as Aokbab, as a hawker stall cook who chases her dreams in the competitive world of fine dining. Aokbab gained international recognition for her lead role in the 2017 Thai thriller “Bad Genius.”
Netflix’s upcoming film also features Gunn Svasti Na Ayudhya as the sous-chef who gives Aokbab’s character a chance and Nopachai Jayanama as her hostile rival, Paul.
To help the actors embody their characters, production enlisted Chef Chalee Kader — whose Bangkok restaurant 100 Mahaseth received bib gourmand distinctions in the Michelin guide — to oversee each cooking scene and give cooking lessons to the stars.

In a press release, Mongkolsiri said he hopes viewers find the characters relatable and inspiring.
Some people may relate to Aoy, Paul or Tone, while others may focus on the food or social context. Or it can also be a source of inspiration for those who are fighting to achieve their dreams. There are many different sides to be seen, and I leave it up to the viewers to discover their own take.
Director Sitisiri Mongkolsiri added: “This is a journey of two people, each driven by their own hunger into many situations and complications. People can eat until they are full, but they may still be hungry for acceptance, fame, love and more.”
“Hunger” will premiere on Netflix on April 8. Watch the trailer below:
