Manny Pacquiao’s camp has confirmed a match between the Filipino boxing legend and Ultimate Fighting Championship superstar Conor McGregor is in the works with all proceeds going to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines.
The 32-year-old UFC star first mentioned the match on Sept. 25 on his Twitter account, saying he will be going up against “Manny Pacquiao next in the Middle East,” according to ESPN.

The 41-year-old boxer’s camp confirmed the fight and added other details about the good cause.
“For the sake of all the Filipino Covid-19 victims, Senator Manny Pacquiao will be fighting UFC superstar Conor McGregor next year,” Pacquaio’s aid, Jayke Joson, said in a statement on Sept. 26. “The huge portion of his earnings will proceed to those who are affected nationwide by the pandemic.”
“Our lawyers are finalising all the confidential details, but both fighters are getting ready for this one epic last boxing fight,” he added, according to Al Jazeera.

No official date has been set, but the McGregor-Pacquiao boxing match is expected to take place in late December to early January, McGregor’s manager Audie Attar told ESPN, adding that UFC is on board with the idea.
