International boxing star Manny Pacquiao has just added a college degree to his list of accomplishments.
The multi-division boxing world champion, who also happens to be an actor, singer, basketball player, preacher and politician, graduated from the University of Makati in the Philippines this week.
Pacquiao first hinted that he was set to get a college degree back in February during an interview about his stand on requiring senatorial and presidential bids to be college graduates.
On Wednesday, the 40-year-old athlete revealed on his Instagram account that he received a bachelor of arts degree in political science, local government administration.
In his post, “the Pacman” shared some photos of his graduation, along with the caption, “Let us engrave this in our hearts: It is never too late to dream bigger dreams. It is never too late to accomplish our dreams. LIVE YOUR PASSION, not just for yourself, but for your family and for our country.”
Pacquiao’s new degree will come in handy with his current position as a senator in the Philippines.
In his youth, Pacquiao lived in extreme poverty and was forced to drop out of high school and leave his home at age 14. He was only able to pursue his education following his success in boxing.
He eventually earned his high school diploma at age 29 in 2007, after passing the accreditation and equivalency test under the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System. Two years later, Pacquiao was given an honorary doctorate degree in humanities by the Southwestern University in Cebu City.
He also enrolled in the business management program at Notre Dame of Dadiangas University in General Santos City but did not finish his studies there, Inquirer reports.
