Malaysian popstar Penny Tai has come a long way since she moved to Taiwan in 1999 to pursue a career in music.
Throughout her 18-year career in the Mando-pop entertainment scene, the 40-year-old superstar has released 12 albums as a solo performer and two albums with her band Buddha Jump.
She has shown her incredible talent as a singer, songwriter, producer, music video director, and actress. She’s also a successful record label owner.
Tai has earned multiple awards and recognition for her work, including Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards for Best Album Producer, Best Female Artist, and Best Composer for the 2005 hit song “Crazy Love.”
Among her many hits, her most internationally recognizable song is the end theme for the Taiwanese drama “Meteor Garden” titled “The Love You Want” (Ni Yao De Ai).
Originally from Segamat, Malaysia, Tai began writing songs at 17 when she participated in the Halo Songwriting Contest in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Earlier this year, the talented popstar went viral online after an impromptu duet with a fan did not go as smoothly as she had hoped during her concert in Wuhan.
Tai, who has never held a solo concert in her homeland, has a huge surprise for her Malaysian fans this year. Her very first show in Malaysia, titled “Penny Tai Thief Asia Tour Live in Malaysia 2018,” will be held at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur on August 11. Tickets will be sold online starting June 1 from myticket.asia, according to Star2.
