Awkwafina has reportedly joined the cast of Disney’s live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid.”
The “Crazy Rich Asians” star will take on the role of Scuttle, the eccentric seagull who claims to be an expert on human culture.
The news comes from journalist Kris Tapley, who also announced Jacob Tremblay’s casting as the tropical fish Flounder.
Disney, however, is yet to confirm their parts, as well as Melissa McCarthy’s, who is said to play the villainous sea witch Ursula.

In the 1989 animated film, Scuttle was one of Ariel’s best friends, helping her in times of trouble.
