Lewis Tan’s first foray into romantic comedies proved to be a success as “About Fate” has landed the top spot on Amazon Prime Video this week.
Known for his martial arts skills as seen in many of his film and TV roles, the “Mortal Kombat” star asked his Twitter followers if he should do more rom-coms since they are “easier than my usual going to bed feeling like I got hit by a truck.”
The tweet generated a number of positive responses, with many urging him to take more romantic and comedic roles.
“Would love to see you do another rom-com/comedic role!” a commenter wrote. “I was pleasantly surprised by your diversity, although I did miss seeing you covered in blood lol! I’m sure it was a welcomed change of pace – your body thanked you!”
“Please do another where you’re the lead,” another commented. “I also would be ecstatic if you were acting alongside a woman of color for the entire film.”
“Watched this last night bc [sic] I saw your name in the credits,” wrote a fan. “Romcoms aren’t my thing but I’d love to see you in more comedic roles!”
“About Fate” stars Emma Roberts and Griffin Reed as two strangers destined for each other. The film is reportedly a remake of the 1978 Russian TV movie “The Irony Of Fate, Or Enjoy Your Bath!” by award-winning filmmaker Eldar Ryazanov.
Tan is set to play the leading role in a series adaptation of the David Ignatius’s 2017 novel “Quantum Spy.”
