Japanese Man Politely Asks if He Can Rob Convenience Store, Turns Himself in Later

 

The incredibly bizarre crime happened at around 1:40 p.m. at a Lawson convenience store branch in Ogori City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan on Oct. 5. According to Yahoo News Japan via Grapee, the man entered the establishment and asked politely if he could rob them.

“I’ve come with the intent to intimidate you and rob this store, may I ask you to please cooperate with me?” he asked the manager.

The manager simply turned down the polite inquiry of the culprit and said, “I can’t do that.”

The well-mannered criminal proceeded to walk out of the store.

 

Interestingly enough, the same man entered a police station in Oguri City and turned himself in. It was later discovered after the investigation that the unnamed man was carrying a knife inside his bag and was arrested.

It’s still unclear what led the man to commit the “crime” and to surrender shortly afterwards. But as police continue to investigate the case, reports seem to speculate that the suspect was just looking for an easy way to get arrested.
