Henry Golding says he wants to be in the 007 universe — even if it’s not likely that he’ll play James Bond.
In an interview with Variety during the 60th Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday, Golding said James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has not spoken to him about the role.
“I think there’s a few guys that have, sadly I’m not one of them,” Golding said. “But I do know for a fact that the cogs are in motion for Barbara, so I just wish them the best. They’re going to choose the right and the most appropriate Bond.”
“I’d love to be in the Bond universe. Not specifically Bond, but let’s play in that sand pit.”
“I’ll play Oddjob, it doesn’t matter,” Golding jokes, referring to Bond villain Goldfinger’s Korean henchman previously played by pro wrestler Harold Sakata.

Although Golding appears to be out of the running, rumors of new names being considered have begun to circulate.
Joining the likes of Henry Cavill and Idris Elba are Lucien Laviscount and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
An unnamed source has pointed to Laviscount, an actor and reality TV star who competed in the eighth season of “Celebrity Big Brother” and starred in the hit Netflix series “Emily in Paris,” as one possible candidate.
More recently, Taylor-Johnson is rumored to have met with producers Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson about taking on the role.
