Video: Gas station workers in Malaysia rescue dog trapped in drain for a week

Employees at a gasoline station in Malaysia rescued a stranded and injured dog that had reportedly been stuck in a drain for a week.
Act of compassion: On Aug. 25, Petron employees at a station in Sungai Nibong, Penang, came to the rescue of a canine that had been left hungry, thirsty and exhausted. The station staff also provided much-needed care before transferring it to a veterinary clinic, where it is set to receive treatment for its injuries.
Viral clip: Petron Sungai Nibong’s TikTok page shared a clip of the staff comforting the dog and feeding it after successfully lifting it out of the drain.
The caption, written partly in Malaysian, read: “Inspired by the true events of the movie ‘Marley & Me’ (from the year 2006). God forgives the sins of people who help animals that are thirsty for water.”
The video, which has since been viewed over 48,000 times, earned messages of support from commenters.
What happens next: According to one of the employees, he noticed the dog’s plight after it had been stuck in the drain for approximately seven days. They used a makeshift stretcher to ensure the dog was lifted safely for transport. After the dog’s recovery, they hope to either reunite it with its owner or find a home that will be able to adopt and properly care for it.
