The Cast of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ So Far is Absolute Squad Goals

Director Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s best-selling novel “Crazy Rich Asians” is coming along really well after months of searching for the best Asian talent both in Singapore and around the world.
Warner Bros. has also announced some members of the “Crazy Rich Asian” squad, which will feature both new and familiar faces.
Constance Wu – Rachel Chu
Back in February, “Fresh Off the Boat’s” Constance Wu was cast in the lead role as Rachel Chu, a Chinese-American economics professor who discovers that her boyfriend is from an extremely wealthy family in Singapore.
Henry Golding – Nick Young
Dreamboat Henry Golding, who has hosted a number of travel shows in Malaysia, will make his silver screen debut as Rachel’s boyfriend, Nick Young, an NYU professor who decides to visit Singapore with his girlfriend for his best friend’s wedding.
Michelle Yeoh – Eleanor Young
Chinese Malaysian action star Michelle Yeoh, most notably known for “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon”, will play Nick’s mother Eleanor Young, who disapproves of Rachel.
Gemma Chan – Astrid Leong
British-Chinese actor Gemma Chan, who stars as a highly developed AI called a Synth on AMC’s “Humans”, is set to play Nick’s cousin and glamorous socialite, Astrid Leong.
Sonoya Mizuno – Araminta Lee
Sonoya Mizuno, best known for her dance number with Oscar Isaac in “Ex Machina”, has been cast as Araminta Lee, a fashionista engaged to Nick’s best friend.
Awkwafina – Goh Peik Lin
Boss ass rapper and “Ocean’s 8” star Awkwafina will play Rachel’s BFF and “fairy godmother”, Goh Peik Lin. She is also the daughter of a Singaporean millionaire, according to BuzzFeed.
Chris Pang – Colin Khoo
Actor Chris Pang, known for his roles in Netflix’s “Marco Polo” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny”, is set to play Colin Khoo, Nick’s best friend and Araminta’s fiancé.
“Stan Lee’s Lucky Man’s” Jing Lusi, “The Daily Show’s” Ronny Chieng, as well as Singaporean actors Pierre Png, Fiona Xie, and Tan Kheng Hua will be part of the supporting cast.
There is no word on whether Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton or Emma Stone will make an appearance.
