CNN Commentator Sparks Outrage After Tweeting ‘Miso Honey’ is a ‘Very Good’ Food Truck Name
By Carl Samson
A political commentator for CNN has come under fire after posting a tone-deaf tweet suggesting “Miso Honey” was an excellent choice for a food truck name.
Chris Cillizza, who runs a multiplatform brand called “The Point,” left no further explanation about the post, aside from claiming that he “drove by” an actual establishment with such name.
Prior to joining CNN, Cillizza wrote for “The Fix”, The Washington Post’s daily political weblog.
At the time, Donald Trump described him as “one of the dumber and least respected of the political pundits.”
When asked if he referred to an actual food truck in D.C. — which “everyone thought was pretty racist” — he replied, “Just drove by it.”
Cillizza’s tweet has attracted hundreds of comments since its posting, many from users affirming that it was racist.
Meanwhile, some questioned how he still had a job.
One user pointed out that Cillizza’s “joke” was a reference to the film “Full Metal Jacket,” in which a Vietnamese prostitute tells a pair of American soldiers, “Me so horny.”
Still, without Cillizza explaining why “Miso Honey” is such a good name, others were left slightly puzzled.
