Olympic champion Chloe Kim joins ‘Fortnite’ Icon Series
The new skin character of the two-time Olympic gold medal champion Chloe Kim is now available for purchase on the free-to-play battle royale game “Fortnite.”
The snowboarder’s skin comes with four outfits, including snowsuits of different colors and a frozen take on her icon where she appears to be partly encased in ice.
Kim’s accessories include a Sub-Zero Flight (icy wings), a Frozen Flourish (pickaxe), a Nunbola (dragon glider), a Board Flair (character emote) and a Nunbola’s Flight game loading screen.
While the athlete admitted that she is not currently great at the game, she wants to start training “to become the best ‘Fortnite’ player in the world.”
In an interview with Hypebae, she shared: “I really wanted my Glider to be a dragon, because I’m a 2000 baby and that’s my Chinese zodiac sign. Growing up, my dad always made references to that so I knew I had to have a dragon somewhere. When that came to life, it was so exciting.
“And honestly, I love designing stuff, so this was another one of those moments where I could get creative by working with a group of amazing, talented people who helped bring my vision to life.”
Developer Epic Games introduced Kim’s skin in Chapter 3: Season 2 of “Fortnite,” titled “Resistance.” The game recently surprised its players by replacing the distinguished building mechanic from the game with a new no-build battle royale, “Fortnite Zero Build.”
Along with the latest season’s launch, Epic Games also announced that they will be donating their proceeds from March 20 to April 3 for “the humanitarian relief for people affected by the war in Ukraine.”
