This Bar in Tokyo Has an Actual Pool of Cherry Blossoms

A cherry blossom-themed bar will open in Tokyo, Japan on the same day the flowers are forecasted to bloom in the city this year.
It will feature a selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, which guests can enjoy while taking a dip in a sakura-filled pool.
The bar, aptly called the Sakura Chill Bar, will open in Tokyo’s Minami Aoyama neighborhood on March 22.

Aside from the obvious theme, the word “chill” in its name is a pun on the equivalent Japanese pronunciation “chiru,” which translates to “flutter,” according to SoraNews24.

Sakura Chill Bar will specialize in sake, offering 23 different brands from the southwestern Saga Prefecture.

There will also be three-pour sampler flights and a variety of snacks from the same prefecture, all for a price of 1,000 yen ($9).

Still, non-alcoholic beverages will be available for underage (below 20 years old) and adult guests who prefer them.

Drinks aside, perhaps the most interesting feature of the bar is its sakura pool, which will be filled with 1.2 million replicas of Japan’s unofficial national flower.

While the pool is only knee-deep, at least three guests can apparently lie down with enough space for themselves.

The bar’s interior design captures the sakura season so well that guests will probably not want to leave in a hurry.

Interestingly, a large window that opens to a bustling street makes a stark contrast to the serenity of the pool area, making guests feel luckier than the rest of the world — at least for a little while.

Keeping in line with its theme, the bar will only run until March 31, when the blooming season comes to an end.
