Pizzeria owner gives employees $100 each and the day off to spend at an arcade

Social media users are celebrating a brick oven pizza restaurant in California for treating its workers to a fun day out at an entertainment center.
Employees’ day out: Burattino Pizza, known for its wild boar toppings and friendly staff, recently shared a video on Instagram showing its employees spending time at a Dave & Buster’s.
- “Sorry we were closed today!” the video’s caption read. “But we wanted to show our staff some love ❤️ See you tomorrow at 11 a.m.”
- The clip, posted last week, shows chef/co-owner Lee Kim talking to his workers about the treat.
- The video then shows each employee being given $100 to celebrate the milestone of the restaurant’s Instagram account reaching 100,000 followers.
- The scene is followed by a montage of Kim and some workers enjoying food and playing games at the arcade.
Sweet gesture: Burattino Pizza’s feel-good post has been viewed over 34,000 times on Instagram, with many commenters praising the gesture.
- According to one user, the gesture was a “great way to treat” the employees.
- “This makes me so happy 😁 employees are the most important part of a business,” another user wrote.
- “That is a real boss 🙏🤙🤙and an amazing team work !!! 👏👏👏,” another commented.
- “I love how you treat your employees like family🔥,” said a commenter.
First-time entrepreneur: Kim, a Korean immigrant who previously fought on the Uzbekistan International Taekwondo team, arrived in the U.S. in 2013 to pursue a career in mixed martial arts, reported BizJournals. He eventually ended up running a successful pizza joint instead.
- Before becoming the co-owner of Burattino Pizza, Kim was the establishment’s manager for over three years, an interview with Flavorful World revealed in 2017.
- He admitted that, at the time, he did not fully grasp “the difference between people working with you vs people working for you” as he had never owned a business before.
- When he took on the role, he was suddenly thrust into taking responsibility “for everyone else’s wellbeing, both financial and emotional.”
- He now understands the “difference between being a manager and being a boss,” which he considers valuable knowledge that he would relay to his younger self.
