Son’s emotional tribute to Cincinnati Bengals’ fan father goes viral on TikTok

A video of a son paying tribute to his late father while celebrating the Cincinnati Bengals’ Sunday Super Bowl LVI qualification has gone viral on TikTok.

“I never thought I’d be crying because of a football game,” Tseng says in the video’s voiceover. “My dad waited 30 years to see this happen, and he missed it by seven months.”

Tseng wore his father’s vintage Bengals’ shirt while watching the Sunday playoff game with his mother. He also carried a small plush Garfield with him. He revealed that his father believed that his son was good luck and therefore used to carry his childhood Garfield wallet with him.

“I brought Garfield downstairs when they were really down by half,” Tseng explained, continuing his father’s tradition.

Tseng’s TikTok account openly documents his grieving process since his father’s death in June 2021. He also has shared videos advocating against unconscious racial and cultural biases in the medical field, which he believes impacted his father’s treatment.

In the playoff game on Sunday, Jan. 30, the Bengals narrowly defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 after a difficult start to the game. The Bengals have never won a Super Bowl title and have not appeared at the Super Bowl since the 1988 season.
