Indie Studio Shows Netlix How the ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Live-Action Should Look Like

An indie studio has taken up the task of showing Netflix how to do a proper adaptation of the hit animated series “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”

It was earlier announced that the streaming service is developing a live-action original series based on the Nickelodeon property.

Considering Netflix’s less-than-impressive take on recent anime adaptations such as “Death Note,” some have expressed concerns on how the upcoming series would turn out.

M. Night Shyamalan’s big screen version in 2010 also failed to live up to fans’ expectations as it flopped at the box office and received mainly negative reviews from critics.

Hoping to give Netflix an idea on how it should be made, independent production outfit Re:Anime is reportedly making an “Avatar: The Last Airbender” fan film, Comicbook.com reports.

In the past, the creative team has created their own badass live-action takes on series such as “Death Note” and “Naruto,” many of which have become viral hits on YouTube.

Re:Anime released the first-look photos from the upcoming short, showcasing its all-Asian main cast dressed in full costume.

Prince Zuko, the incredibly powerful firebender, will be played by former “Power Rangers” actor Yoshi Sudarso. Meanwhile, Nikki Soohoo was cast to play Azula and Yasmin Kassim will be Katara.

Those excited to see how Re:Anime will handle the beloved characters need not wait long as a teaser trailer is set to be released online on Monday.
