Aespa’s “Supernova” has been named the best K-pop song of 2024, securing 93 out of 200 votes from industry professionals in a JoyNews24 survey celebrating the publication’s 20th anniversary. The song’s infectious energy, dynamic performance and record chart achievements made it a summer anthem for fans.
- What the survey said: The survey, which was conducted from Sept. 30 to Oct. 8, involved 200 experts, including entertainment company employees, broadcasters, content creators and journalists. Aespa’s “Supernova” emerged as the clear favorite, lauded for its musical quality and addictive sound. “Everyone was singing along to ‘Shu Shu Shu Supernova’ and ‘Ah Oh Ay,’” JoyNews24 noted, highlighting the song’s presence on charts and in viral dance challenges. It held the No. 1 spot on Melon and Genie for 13 weeks and led Circle Chart’s streaming rankings for 12 weeks, amassing over 100 million Spotify streams by July. Meanwhile, Bibi’s “Bamyanggang” took second place with 42 votes, followed by DAY6’s “Happy” in third place with 17 votes.
