Abandoned Puppy Scheduled to Be Killed Finds Home in South Korea

A puppy at risk for succumbing to euthanasia was adopted by a new family weeks after its owner abandoned it inside a park in South Korea.
The puppy, tied to a bench, was found by a pedestrian within a park in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, on Oct. 28, according to Insight News.
The pedestrian, identifying as “A,” looked after the puppy for five hours until rescuers from the Korea Animal Rescue and Management Association (KARMA) arrived.
A took pictures of the puppy during the brief time he spent with it, confessing in an online forum (translation via allkpop):
“I looked after the pup for five hours before rescuers from the animal shelter came and took him away.”
“The puppy seemed so innocent and full of aegyo, and made me shed tears while I sent him off to the shelter.”
While the puppy ended up in the hands of rescuers, its life was not guaranteed.
Apparently, the shelter follows a protection period — officials must put it down if it was not adopted in 20 days.
Thankfully, new owners showed up on Nov. 14 — just three days before a possible euthanasia.
The female puppy was estimated to be 10 months old and in good health condition.
It’s one happy ending for this lucky pup, but bear in mind that others face a similar risk. As the countdown to the end of a protection period starts, animal lovers looking for new pets could best pay shelters a visit and pursue an adoption.
