Ticketmaster cancels general sale for tickets to BTS member Suga’s tour after high demand during presale

Ticketmaster has announced that tickets to BTS member Suga’s upcoming solo tour in the U.S. will no longer be sold due to “extremely high demand” during the first presale.
The decision, announced on March 1 via Twitter, comes after Ticketmaster previously announced that all available tickets would go up for sale during the first presale run for ARMY members. Ticketmaster will not proceed with planned general Verified Fan presales and general sales.
Despite the announcement, fans took to social media to report that “Official Platinum” seats were still available on the site and to call on Ticketmaster to release the seats at face value. The company has not commented on the matter.
One Twitter user claimed the Official Platinum seats are exorbitant markups of regular seats without any sort of VIP or deluxe packages attached.
The user claimed the platinum tickets are being sold at a 200% markup, now with a price tag of $999.00 plus fees for section 100 seats.
Ticketmaster has faced scrutiny in recent months due to ticket sale issues with massive tours from artists like Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny, among others.
During the presale for Swift’s ”Eras” tour in November, thousands of fans reported website crashes and lengthy wait times, leading to Ticketmaster canceling the general sale due to a “historically unprecedented demand.” The incident led to a fan-led campaign against Ticketmaster, a class action lawsuit and a U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee hearing regarding competition in the ticketing industry.
In December, hundreds of fans were denied entry to a Bad Bunny concert in Mexico after being told the tickets they purchased through Ticketmaster were not valid, with regulators alleging the issue was due to Ticketmaster overselling tickets.
Named for one of his musical monikers, Suga’s upcoming “Agust D” tour will start with two nights in Belmont Park, New York, on April 26 and 27. He is the first BTS member to hold their own solo world tour.
