A female teacher is accused of hitting a first grade student 99 times after he left the class early.
On Monday morning, a 50-year-old mother filed a complaint against a female teacher named Chalida Paijitprapa-porn who beat her son with a stick 99 times.
A 7-year-old student at Sang-am Withaya School Pathum Thani was hit 99 times with a stick covered in adhesive tape by his teacher after he left the class before it was time, according the Bangkok Post,
The boy’s mother, Boonseub Khanthong, took her son to the police station to show the bruises he had on his back cause by the hitting. The 50-year-old mother also stated that her son is suffering from nightmares and is having a hard time sleeping because of his injuries. He is also too afraid to return to school since the incident occurred.
AsiaOne reported that the mother has petitioned to put the teacher under disciplinary procedures and asked the board to revoke her license as a teacher. She also added that she wants an apology from Chalida but the teacher went missing from school and is reportedly on leave.
Boonseub also said that the teacher contacted their family to offer a sum of roughly $1,400 to cover the boy’s medical bills. The mother added that they were already visited by education officials who offered to give them assistance money if they wish to transfer her son to another school.
However, she said that she wants her son to stay at Sang-am Withaya where three of the boy’s cousins also studied.
Wichai Saengsri, a Pathum Thani Primary Education Service Area Officer, said that they already set up a committee to investigate the complaint and to launch disciplinary action against the teacher.
