A middle school teacher surnamed Zhou in Sichuan Province in southwest China has been suspended after photos showing him whipping his students with an extension cable went viral.
The students can be seen kneeling down outside of the school in Tongjiang County and being beaten by their teacher as classmates look on and wait for their turn.
Shanghaiist reported that the teacher had become angry with some of his pupils when they could not recite their homework by heart.
Enraged by his student’s forgetfulness, Zhou forced the group to stand up for the remainder of the class before taking them outside to inflict the harsh punishment.
Besides using an extension cord to beat the young ones, the teacher also allegedly punched and kicked them around their ears, hoping it will teach them a lesson.
The Tonjiang middle school quickly suspended Zhou from his job after the series of photos were leaked online and will carry out an investigation into the incident.
Online netizens on Weibo chimed in saying that the police should let his students teach him a lesson as well.
A number of similar incidents have been on the rise in some Chinese classrooms recently.
Last Tuesday, a primary school teacher in Dongguan, Guangdong Province was caught on video dragging a young girl on the ground by her hair and pretending to be her mom when she was confronted by a courier.
Footage of an angry tiger mom beating a kindergarten teacher who had allegedly abused her child went viral on Chinese social media back in April.
