Singapore’s Changi Airport has been named the “World’s Best Airport” for 2023.
On Wednesday, U.K.-based air transport research firm Skytrax announced the world’s top airports of 2023, with Changi Airport claiming the top title for the 12th time.
Changi Airport also won the awards for World’s Best Airport Dining, World’s Best Airport Leisure Amenities and Best Airport in Asia.
Although the airport previously claimed first place for eight consecutive years from 2013 to 2020, it placed behind Doha’s Hamad International Airport and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport for the past two years.
The ratings are based on customers’ surveys, which included factors such as check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping and security and immigration.
In a statement, Lee Seow Hiang, the chief executive officer for Changi Airport Group, thanked both the airport’s staff and their passengers’ support.

This recognition is great encouragement to our airport community, who stood firmly together to battle the challenges of Covid-19 over the past two years. We thank them for their dedication to serve Changi’s passengers and the perseverance to keep Singapore connected to the world. To our passengers, we are deeply grateful for your vote of confidence. Your continued support encourages us to keep pursuing service excellence as we expand our offerings to redefine the Changi Experience. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Changi Airport as we rediscover the magic of travel again.

Changi Airport features the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, seven themed gardens, a forest valley and an IMAX cinema.
Across its four terminals, it also features more than 280 retail and dining outlets. To kill time during a layover, passengers have access to the airport’s gym and shower facilities, napping areas, a children’s play structure and a swimming pool overlooking a runway.
“Singapore Changi is primarily a transit airport, and from the customer feedback, the airport performs well because it offers such a wide range of facilities and amenities for all types of customers – families, business and leisure travelers are all well catered for,” Skytrax’s Peter Miller told CNN.
Meanwhile, Tokyo’s Haneda Airport came in third after Doha’s Hamad International Airport in Skytrax’s report.
South Korea’s Incheon International Airport followed in fourth place. Japan’s Narita International Airport, Kansai International Airport and Chubu Centrair International Airport also made the top 20.
