Filipino Beauty Queen Shot Dead at Home After Opening the Door for Two Men With Gifts

One of the assailants reportedly fired a gun at the victim named Mary Christine Balagtas before fleeing via a getaway motorcycle.
Balagtas, a 23-year-old college student, died inside the ambulance while she was being rushed to the hospital, according to Daily Mail.
Authorities are looking into a crime of passion angle as they are now investigating the victim’s ex-boyfriend as a suspect.
“’We believe the attack could have been carried out by a hired gun,” local police superintendent Julio Lizardo was quoted as saying. “We found an empty shell from a .45 caliber pistol at the scene and believe that two men had fled on a motorcycle. Witnesses said that two men had been seen in the neighborhood before the shooting.”
“Mary died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. We are following several leads including a man who had a romantic relationship with Mary.”
The former local beauty queen has been crowned as a winner a twice in the pageants in her province.
Her classmates and friends at the University of Regina Carmeli College paid tribute to her on Friday.
“Life is just really too short for the family and friends you have left. We may not even know what truly happened to you but we let it given in the hands of our almighty God,” friend Herlie Rozelle Flores Vecina was quoted as saying. “We are confident that justice will prevail. We just pray that your family and us, your friends will get that fair.”
