South Korean record label and entertainment agency P Nation, which was founded by Korean superstar PSY, issued a statement on Monday announcing the departure of both HyunA and DAWN.
The Korean-language statement reads, “We are writing to express our deepest gratitude to those who showed lots of love and interest to HyunA and Dawn.
“We are informing you that HyunA and Dawn’s exclusive contract with P Nation has ended.
“With their bold music and unique visuals and performances that only they could take on, HyunA and DAWN as well as HyunaA & DAWN boldly illustrated P NATION’s colors. Their passion as artists and their consideration and care for the staff became examples for everyone.
“All the members of P NATION will keep the exciting memories with HyunA and DAWN for a long time, and we will continuously support their future activities going forward.
“We thank the fans who cherished HyunA and Dawn and continue to ask for your warm encouragement and support.”
Prior to joining P Nation in January 2019, the couple left CUBE Entertainment in 2018 after announcing their relationship status. They debuted as a duo act in September 2021 with the mini-album “1+1=1” led by the title track “PING PONG.”
Under P Nation, HyunA released two mini-albums: “I’m Not Cool” in January 2021 and “Nabillera” in July.
Meanwhile, DAWN churned singles such as “Stupid Cool” in June and “MONEY” in 2019. He released his EP “Dawndididawn” – led by the title track of the same name featuring then-P Nation labelmate Jessi – in October 2020.
Last month, Korean American rapper Jessi announced her departure from P Nation after being part of the label for three years and making history as their first signed artist.
Earlier this month, P Nation was under fire after PSY revealed that 300 tons of potable water would be used during his “Summer Swag 2022” concert. Several social media users called him out for this excessive use of water, especially given the drought in South Korea. P Nation was also criticized following the death of a construction worker while dismantling the summer concert’s stage. The agency was raided last week as part of an investigation led by South Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labor.
P Nation debuted their first boy group, TNX, in May. PSY released his ninth album “Psy 9th” in April, featuring the track “That That” with BTS’ Suga.
