Almost everyone in the world has a mobile phone and everyday, people spend hours using them.
South China Morning Post reported on a 14-year-old girl from Qingdao, Shandong province who was taken to the doctor because she couldn’t straighten her neck upwards after she spent too much time using her cellphone. Doctors studied her X-rays and found that her upper spine has become deformed.
This condition often results in dizziness and pain and commonly affects those who are in their 50’s — not someone still in their teens.
According to the girl’s father, his daughter likes watching videos and playing games on her smartphone, and would spend all her free time using the device.
The girl was able to return home after treatments but doctors warned her about using her smartphone too much. They advised her that she could only use gadgets for a maximum of two hours a day to keep her condition from getting worse.
A doctor also recapped a case of a 10-year-old boy that was similar to the girl’s situation. Because he was using his mobile phone excessively, the habit damaged his spine which left him unable to walk properly.
